Clinical Aspects of Music, Sound and Acoustics in Context of Neuro-Pyscho, Neuro-Physio and Neuro-Acoustic Mechanism
This guest lecture, provided attendees with a comprehensive survey of how musical sound and acoustic features engage neural circuits across psychoacognitive, physiological, and neural-acoustic domains and how these insights translate into clinical practice. The talk integrated the neuro-psychoacoustics of perception, emotion, and cognition with the neuro-physiology of brain networks involved in music (including the auditory cortex, STG, premotor and prefrontal regions, basal ganglia, and cerebellum) and the principles of neuro-acoustics such as encoding and neural entrainment to spectral content, rhythm, and tempo. It highlighted clinical applications across conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, autism, tinnitus, and cochlear implant users, emphasizing how rhythmic cueing, mood modulation, and music-based rehabilitation leverage neural plasticity and dopaminergic and limbic pathways. The session also covered assessment methods—from psychoacoustic tests to EEG/MEG, fMRI, and TMS—and discussed how these tools inform the design and evaluation of interventions. Aimed at graduate students, clinicians, and researchers in neuroscience, psychology, audiology, music therapy, and rehabilitation, the talk concluded with implications for practice, opportunities for personalized interventions, and directions for future research. The format included a 60–90 minute presentation with a slide deck and interactive elements such as quick polls or prompts, followed by a brief Q&A and optional handouts and a suggested reading list.

3-day Workshop on Neuro-acoustics, Laboratory Training & Applications
The 3-day workshop on Neuro-acoustics, Laboratory Training & Applications delivered an immersive exploration of how the brain processes sound. Participants, including researchers, clinicians, engineers, and students, gained hands-on experience with neuro-acoustic measurement techniques such as auditory evoked potentials, mid-latency and late-latency neural responses, otoacoustic emissions, and cochlear microphonics, as well as neural imaging correlates like fMRI and MEG where applicable. The program emphasized experimental design tailored to neuro-sound processing—covering stimulus paradigms, timing precision, and artifact management critical for reliable neural signals. Attendees built practical skills in data acquisition, preprocessing, and advanced signal analysis (e.g., time-frequency analysis, source localization, and functional connectivity) to link acoustic stimuli with neural representations.
